UV-Vis-NIR

Combined Deuterium, Halogen UV-Vis-NIR Light Sources

Whether you are studying a sample that has multiple features in different areas or you’re analyse a variety of different samples in your lab, a light source that covers a wide spectral range is useful. From organics and small molecules to the near-IR absorption of plastics and polymers, a combination light source allows you to extend the capabilities of your measurement. Using a combination of two lamps or a single lamp that has a wide spectral output, the entire UV-Vis-near-IR can be accessed.

Xenon sources are very intense in the UV and have a strong, flat profile in the visible and near-IR region. They are useful for absorbance, fluorescence or reflectance measurements. Pulsed Xenon sources, like the PX-2, are high intensity with a lower duty cycle, making them ideal for measurements where too much UV light can damage the sample.

A light source containing both a deuterium and tungsten or halogen lamp can also cover the UV, visible and near-IR regions of the spectrum. For applications from colour measurement to industrial quality control, these sources are the most flexible available. Deuterium sources are weaker but more stable than xenon. They are ideal for kinetics or process measurements where stability over a long period of time is important.
